Torrance Gibson needs Ohio State more than OSU needs him


By Andrew Kulha Posted on August 29, 2016 Whatever Ohio State wide receiver Torrance Gibson did, it was severe enough to get him suspended not just from the team, but from the university for the fall semester. Officially, the Buckeyes are saying that Gibson has been suspended for violating the school’s student code of conduct. It’s a very vague statement — likely on purpose — but it does leave a ton of wiggle room for the imagination. He didn’t get suspended from school for a semester for chewing gum in class. It also doesn’t appear to be a legal issue, though. Here’s the official statement, via Dave Biddle of 247Sports: “Ohio State redshirt freshman wide receiver Torrance Gibson has been suspended from The Ohio State University for the 2016 fall semester for a violation of the University’s student code of conduct.” For what it’s worth, Meyer did say that he disagrees with the suspension, so this was obviously a university decision and not a team one. Somewhere between chewing gum and legal troubles — an ocean of possibilities — Gibson found himself on the wrong side of the Ohio State code of conduct.
