Ohio State Football: Just how good is this secondary?


One thing is clear in Columbus: Ohio State Football has an incredible pedigree.  In the secondary, that is particularly the case.  Last year produced two high draft picks, and they had tremendous college careers.  In 2016, there was concern that this young group would have some growing pains. They have been dominant in this young season thus far.  There is plenty of football to be played, but this group has proved already themselves on the national stage. Going into their Big Ten schedule, they will only get better.  Let’s take a look at what makes this back end so special. Lockdown corners Junior cornerback Gareon Conley has established himself as a great corner.  The junior came onto the scene in 2015, and he sets the tone in the back end.  His ability to make plays on the boundary in man coverage allows players such as safety Malik Hooker to patrol the middle and read the quarterback’s eyes. The other guy lining up on the outside has been arguably the best player on the defense.
