OU's defense still searching for first interception this season

NORMAN — Through three games, Oklahoma has yet to record an interception and has forced just two turnovers. “It does weigh on us,” Sooners safety Steven Parker said. “That’s why every single day we’re going out there and competing. We’re getting our hands on every single ball we can — against the offense and the scout team, anybody. Everybody needs to be a victim.” Sooners defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said he hoped interceptions would come soon. “That comes from being more aggressive,” Stoops said. “I feel like we’re probably playing on our heels right now. That’s what’s hard about playing these teams. It’s hard to force the issue against them. Their systems are very cover-all. Believe me, they’re well-conceived. I don’t expect any normal human being to understand what we’re talking about but these offenses are foolproof.” Last year’s Sooners had 20 interceptions, including at least one in eight consecutive games to end the season. During six of those eight games, OU had at least two interceptions.
