The Ohio State Buckeyes have had some terrific coaches in the past. This weekend, legendary ex-coach Earle Bruce will be in attendance for a special honor. Bruce will be in attendance in the game, but he won’t just be there as a fan and alumnus. He will reportedly dot the “I” in the marching band’s traditional script Ohio before every home game. “I was floored…I couldn’t believe it,” Bruce told WTVN’s Matt McCoy after he was asked to help the band. “I always like to talk about the band. The band is so great.” This will reportedly be just the 14th time a non-band member has dotted the I before a home game, so Bruce should certainly feel honored about getting this opportunity. But, this is just one way the school is repaying him for all he did with the Buckeyes during his career. He played running back with the team from 1949-1951 before becoming head coach in 1979 and serving through the 1987 season.
