OU football: Oklahoma begins Big 12 championship hunt

NORMAN — Through four weeks of the 2016 season, at least one goal has already been eliminated for the Oklahoma football team. At this point, the 1-2 Sooners aren’t making it to the College Football Playoffs, and the goal of a national title is pretty far-fetched. But that doesn’t mean the season is worthless, not by a long shot. Obviously winning a national championship is the ultimate goal for any Oklahoma team, but wide receiver Mark Andrews said the Sooners’ first priority has always been to win a Big 12 title. OU’s conference slate begins with a trip to Fort Worth this weekend, and the climb to achieving the primary goal of the season starts now. “It’s something that when you come to Oklahoma, the Big 12 is a very important thing,” Andrews said. “It’s kind of your first goal. I don’t think it’s hard coming off not being in the talk for the national title in order to be excited for the Big 12, just because it’s such a big thing here. We pride ourselves on that.
