They proved they belonged by shocking No. 1 Alabama in the semifinals before trouncing No. 2 Oregon in the national title game. Their chance to repeat in 2015 was ruined by a last-second field goal against eventual Big Ten champ Michigan State. Alabama slaughtered the Spartans 38-0 in the CFP semifinal, then hoisted the championship trophy. At the halfway point of the 2016 season, the Buckeyes and Crimson Tide are ranked 1-2 and on a crash-course to meet for bragging rights and college football supremacy at the end of the year. But linebacker Raekwon McMillan and his teammates know they’ll only get their shot at the title if they keep their focus on the weekly task at hand. “Everybody wants to get back to that big game,” McMillan said. “But we have to win the Big Ten first.
