Forde's Fab Four: Who replaces Ohio State?


Each week of the season, I will be a one-man College Football Playoff selection committee, picking the four teams that should be in the bracket if Selection Sunday were today. Call it Forde’s Fab Four, and call it an invitation to debate and discuss. The big playoff news from the weekend was Ohio State’s upset loss at Penn State, which boots the Buckeyes out of the bracket but not out of contention. If Ohio State wins out, it almost assuredly will be a playoff team – but in order to win out it will have to jump-start an offense that has been held to its three lowest yardage totals of the season in the past three weeks. Against the Nittany Lions, Ohio State averaged a season-low 4.98 yards per play. On to the current bracket: Peach Bowl: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 ClemsonThe Crimson Tide (8-0) turned in another dominant performance Saturday, beating undefeated Texas A&M by 19 points. That wraps up a three-week gauntlet of games against ranked teams, and Alabama won them by an average of 25.7 points.
