Can Pat Elflein win Ohio State's first individual national football award in eight years?

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State has accomplished the ultimate team goal under Urban Meyer, winning the national title in 2014 and chasing another one in the College Football Playoff this season. But the Buckeyes haven’t stacked up any national individual awards yet in Meyer’s five seasons. Pat Elflein could change that. Two Ohio State players, Elflein and punter Cameron Johnston, left for Atlanta on Wednesday to take part in the College Football Awards show, which will be broadcast live on ESPN at 7 p.m. on Thursday night. Elflein is one of three finalists for the Outland Trophy, awarded to the best interior lineman. He’s joined by Alabama tackle Cam Robinson and Washington State guard Cody O’Connell.
