COLUMBUS, Ohio — Urban Meyer said it as soon as he was hired at Ohio State: In order to win at the highest level of college football, you need to have great assistants. And you have to pay them.  The USA Today released a database Wednesday of college football coach assistant salaries and Ohio State has nine assistants on the list. The Buckeyes rank No. 7 nationally in total salary with a collected $4,583,100 payout in 2016.  Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell is Meyer’s highest paid assistant.
