Ohio State Defensive Coordinator, LB Coach Luke Fickell Has Been Named Head Coach At Cincinnati

The rumors have become reality. Ohio State defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Luke Fickell has been named the head coach at Cincinnati, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN. There had been rumblings surrounding Columbus that Fickell may be headed to Florida Atlantic or UC to fill one of the two head coaching vacancies. It turns out the former OSU head coach will be heading to the Queen City and he may be bringing someone with him. George Vogel of Cincinnati news station WLW said in a tweet that a reliable source told him Fickell is going to bring Buckeye cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs with him to Cincinnati. Vogel went on to say that Coombs will be the associate head coach under Fickell.  Prior to coming to Columbus, Coombs spent five seasons with the Bearcats.
