Ohio State football | Assistant coach Kerry Coombs says he's staying with Buckeyes

Ohio State has lost Luke Fickell to the University of Cincinnati, but it doesn’t appear as if fellow defensive assistant Kerry Coombs will return home to join him.Coombs, the Buckeyes’ cornerbacks coach and special-teams coordinator, said on Twitter this afternoon that he will remain in Columbus. Coombs is a former UC assistant coach who was the longtime head coach at perennial powerhouse Colerain High School. Coombs, in a tweet written in capital letters, said that his status had been the subject of “speculation and misrepresentation” and said that he wanted to be clear. “I AM A BUCKEYE!” he tweeted. “I LOVE MY UNIT, OUR TEAM, THE BUCKEYE NATION, AND EVERYTHING ABOUT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY.” Coombs then congratulated Fickell on being named head coach at Cincinnati and said he expects him to be successful as Bearcats coach.
