Ohio State football: Malcolm Pridgeon, Wayne Davis lose black stripes during bowl practice

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State offensive lineman Malcolm Pridgeon thanked the Buckeyes training staff for getting him “back to healthy” when he lost his black stripe after Saturday’s practice. Pridgeon, a junior college transfer, and freshman cornerback Wayne Davis both had their black stripes removed from their helmets on Saturday. That’s a sign that both are ready to be called official Buckeyes. Pridgeon was expected to contend for a starting position on the offensive line in training camp, but suffered a knee injury early that kept him out for the entire season. He’s back practicing now, which Urban Meyer said was expected by this point, but it’s unlikely he’ll get a shot to play against Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl.
