Ohio State football | Indiana opener changed to Aug. 31

Ohio State’s 2017 season-opener against Indiana has been changed to Thursday, Aug. 31 from Sept. 2, the Buckeyes announced this afternoon.The game will be played in the evening, but the exact kickoff time and television network have not been determined. This will be the first time Ohio State has opened on the road on a Thursday night. The Buckeyes played Virginia Tech on a Monday night to open the 2015 season. Ohio State have had Thursday home openers twice – in 2010 against Marshall and in 1997 against Wyoming. The Buckeyes will be opening their season with a Big Ten game for the first time since 1976 when they played Michigan State. They last opened on the road against a league opponent in 1975, also against the Spartans. Ohio State is 12-0 in season-openers against Big Ten teams. Brabinowitz@dispatch.com @brdispatch
