The past week has been a whirlwind for Luke Fickell. If Ohio State’s defensive co-coordinator has his choice, it’ll continue for almost another four weeks.That could result in some sleep deprivation and time away from his wife, Amy, and six children, but that’s a sacrifice he knows he must make. Fickell is thrilled to be the new coach at the University of Cincinnati. But he wasn’t going to leave the Buckeyes before the College Football Playoff. He is too close to his players, too invested in this team to walk away before the season is over. So Fickell is doing what Tom Herman did two years ago after the Buckeyes’ offensive coordinator landed the Houston job. He’s burning the candle at both ends. During the day, he is helping Ohio State prepare for its playoff semifinal against Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl. From roughly 8 p.m. until midnight, he attends…
