A closer look at the officiating from Ohio State-Michigan reveals only one bad call — not 'The Spot'

COLUMBUS, Ohio — If there were a different spot, the difference of an inch, Ohio State wouldn’t be preparing for a College Football Playoff semifinal game.  J.T. Barrett’s first-down run in overtime of Ohio State’s win over Michigan on Nov. 26 has become an infamous play. If the spot were different, the Buckeyes would have lost to Michigan and the entire course to the Big Ten championship and the college football postseason would have been altered.  It turns out that the refs did all they could do.  According to a report from the Chicago Tribune’s Teddy Greenstein, who took a deep look at Big Ten officiating, there was only one blown call in the Ohio State-Michigan game and it wasn’t on Barrett’s run that is now remembered as “The Spot.”  Jim Harbaugh complained about the officiating during the entire duration of his postgame press conference and Michigan fans will still tell…
