It was easy to see what was missing most from Ohio State’s offense in 2016.After an ignominious 31-0 loss to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl eight days ago, freshman receiver Binjimen Victor laid it out there. “I feel like we just need to hit more plays,” Victor said. He wasn’t speaking of the offense as a whole. Many times, hybrid back Curtis Samuel did hit big plays when it counted as a receiver or running back. He led the Buckeyes in the former category by far and was the candle on the cake in the latter. But Samuel’s major presence in the passing game highlighted what the Buckeyes were lacking. No one from the corps of true wide receivers ever stepped fully into the shoes vacated by Michael Thomas — the same Thomas who led all NFL rookies in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns caught for the New Orleans Saints…
