Nate Meyer, son of Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer, commits to Cincinnati baseball

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football player personnel director Mark Pantoni posted “BOOOOOM!!!!” on his Twitter account on Monday evening, which usually means the Buckeyes picked up a verbal commitment.  Not this time.  Pantoni was celebrating the fact that Nate Meyer, the son of Urban Meyer, had announced that he is going be joining the Cincinnati baseball team.  Though Nate participated in football camps at Ohio State, it’s been clear that he isn’t big or fast enough to play football for his father. However, Nate, like his father was, is a very good baseball player.  After spending two years playing minor league baseball, Urban Meyer went to Cincinnati and played on the Bearcats football team as a walk-on starting in the spring of 1984.  Now Nate, who goes to Columbus Bishop Watterson, is following in his father’s footsteps, at least with his college education.  Honored and humbled to say that I…
