Ohio State’s 31-0 loss to Clemson in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff marked only the third time Urban Meyer has lost a bowl game in his coaching career. In 2007, Meyer’s Florida Gators lost to Michigan 41-35 in the Capital One Bowl. The next season, Florida defeated Oklahoma 24-14 in the national title game. In 2013 during his second year at Ohio State, the Buckeyes lost to Clemson 40-35 in the Orange Bowl. The next season, Ohio State beat Oregon 35-21 in the national championship game.
