Ohio State officially announces Greg Schiano will be sole defensive coordinator

After some staff turnover, Greg Schiano will be Ohio State’s only defensive coordinator. The Buckeyes officially announced Schiano will be the team’s only DC as Ohio State gets ready to open spring drills on March 7. Schiano had been Ohio State’s co-DC with Luke Fickell. But Fickell left to become Cincinnati’s new head coach. Schiano, the former head coach at Rutgers and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, joined the Buckeyes staff in December 2015. Schiano went 68-67 as Rutgers’ head coach from 2001 to 2011. In 2006, he led the Scarlet Knights to an 11-2 finish and a No. 12 final ranking. He then coached the Buccaneers, going 11-21 from 2012-13. With Fickell and Schiano, the Buckeyes allowed 296.8 yards and 15.5 points per game.
