Buckeye Football Notebook: 'I wish I had a bunch of bad quarterbacks'


While former Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell was being tied to the head coaching job at Cincinnati a few months back, OSU cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs was being tied to Fickell’s future staff. In what was seen as a way to keep that move from happening, Urban Meyer announced that Coombs would be staying and would be receiving more responsibility with the defense as a whole. Meyer explained what some of those responsibilities will be, and also said that Greg Schiano may not be the only defensive coordinator the Buckeyes have this season. “I’m going to evaluate what’s the best for our program,” Meyer said on Tuesday. “I’m going to watch Coach (Billy) Davis, watch Coach Coombs, and obviously Larry (Johnson) is a very integral part.
