Buckeyes need depth to rotate corners again in 2017


COLUMBUS – Urban Meyer has coached 15 seasons of college football, yet last year was the best group of cornerbacks he’s worked with in his career. “That was as good of production as we’ve ever had out at corner anywhere we’ve been,” the Ohio State head coach said on Tuesday. Both starting corners from last season, Gareon Conley and Marshon Lattimore, left early for the NFL, Conley after two years as a starter and Lattimore following just one. This is what happens when two defensive backs combine for eight interceptions as part of one of the nation’s best pass defenses. Along with Conley and Lattimore, backups Damon Arnette and Denzel Ward contributed as well. Arnette saw a number of snaps early in the season, but his plays decreased during the year.
