Ohio State football: Kendall Sheffield has black stripe removed from helmet

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Urban Meyer said Tuesday that this year’s group of early-enrolled freshmen is the best group Ohio State has had during his tenure.  It looks like Kendall Sheffield is leading the pack.  Meyer announced on Tuesday that Sheffield was the first player to have his black stripe removed.  When an Ohio State freshman — or first-year player — has the black stripe removed from his helmet, it signifies he’s done enough and proven himself worthy of officially becoming a Buckeye.  Maybe it isn’t a coincidence that Sheffield has caught on to the college game the fastest. Sheffield came to Ohio State as a junior college transfer who began his collegiate career at Alabama.
