Ohio State Football: Early signing period can only hurt Buckeyes’ recruiting

For nearly 40 years, National Signing Day — held every February — was the first and only time high school athletes could formally sign to play collegiate football; another day for college football fans to look forward to during the offseason. But now, after much deliberation from the NCAA, the 2017/2018 recruiting cycle will be the first since 1981 to have an early signing period. The Collegiate Commissioners Association approved the early signing period two weeks ago, which will run from December 20 to December 22 this year.
