5 Ohio State basketball numbers that should be honored


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Last Saturday, we took a look at five jersey numbers the Ohio State football program should consider honoring in the near future. This week, we’ll do the same for Buckeyes basketball. As a reminder, Ohio State athletics no longer officially retires numbers, but will still hang them in the rafters of the Schottenstein Center — as it did with the number of 2010 National Player of the Year Evan Turner a year ago. Honored numbers, however, will remain in circulation on the Buckeyes’ active roster. Currently, the Ohio State men’s basketball program lays claim to four retired numbers — John Havlicek’s No. 5, Jerry Lucas’ No. 11, Gary Bradds’ No. 35 and Jimmy Jackson’s No. 22 — to go along with Turner’s honored No. 21.
