Ohio State Football: Mike Weber Named To Doak Walker Award Watch List

Ohio State running back Mike Weber was added to his second watch list Thursday, when he was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list, an award given to the top running back in Div. I college football each season. Weber has also been named to the Maxwell Award watch list.  After sitting out the 2015 season with a redshirt, Weber earned the starting job in 2016 and became just the third running back in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards as a freshman, joining Robert Smith and Maurice Clarett. Weber finished the year with 1,096 yards on 182 carries and nine scores and was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2016.  The only Buckeye to ever win the award was Eddie George, who earned the honor in 1995, the same year he won the Heisman Trophy.  The full list of Buckeyes on preseason watch…
