Ohio State Quarterback J.T. Barrett Ties Drew Brees' Big Ten Touchdown Record

With two touchdowns in today’s game against Army, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has tied Drew Brees’ record for the most total touchdowns in Big Ten history. Barrett had been responsible for 104 touchdowns in his Ohio State career entering the day. He ran the ball into the end zone from five yards out to score his 105th career touchdown on the Buckeyes’ first possession of the game. His record-tying 106th touchdown came in the third quarter, when Barrett completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin. Should Barrett score another touchdown in today’s game, he will break the record held by Brees. Now the quarterback for the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, Brees passed for 90 touchdowns, ran for 14 touchdowns and caught two touchdown passes for Purdue from 1997 to 2000. Barrett tied the record by passing for 73 touchdowns, which was already an Ohio State record, and rushing for 33 touchdowns.
