Raise bumps Ohio State's Urban Meyer to $6.4 million this season

Murray, USA TODAY Sports) After leading his team to last season’s College Football Playoff semifinals, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer received a pay raise that was more than $100,000 above the amount required by his contract and pushes his basic annual compensation from the school for this season to more than $6.4 million. The university provided the figures to USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday in response to an open-records request. The increase took effect Feb. 1, according to university spokesman Chris Davey. That likely makes Meyer the nation’s third-highest paid public-school football coach in terms of annual compensation, behind Alabama’s Nick Saban ($7.125 million) Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh ($7 million).
