COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State basketball is expected to be in the Big Ten basement in year one under new head coach Chris Holtmann. A poll of Big Ten basketball writers, released on Tuesday, has the Buckeyes finishing 11th in the league this year. Michigan State was the unanimous pick to win the league. The poll was conducted by Adam Jardy of the Columbus Dispatch, and Brendan Quinn of The Athletic. It polled 28 writers, two beat writers from each team. Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern, Maryland and Michigan (tied for fifth) rounded out the tip five of the league projections. Michigan State sophomore forward Miles Bridges was the unanimous pick for Big Ten Player of the Year, and his new teammate Jaren Jackson was the pick for Freshman of the Year.
