Penn State recaptured some of its 2016 magic Saturday night, looking for all of college football like the magic-wand crew it was last year. Hot-footed and cold-blooded, messy and miraculous, assured that occasional gaffes would cede to big plays, the Lions turned back Michigan before turning to its Next Biggest Game Ever. Before a white blanket of 110,823, the largest crowd ever at Beaver Stadium, Penn State upended Michigan 42-13, capping a day-long campus celebration. With ESPN’S GameDay on site for the first time since 2009, and a town on a daylong bender for game prep, No. 2 Penn State had every reason to feel overwhelmed by the moment.
