We’ve written about Michigan’s popularity before. The school’s football games tend to draw vast, national audiences no matter the opponent. The numbers in 2017 continue to support that. A report from Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch on Monday said Michigan played in three of college football’s 15 most-watched games in 2017. More specifically, Michigan’s Nov. 25 game against No. 8 Ohio State came in fifth. A noon kickoff, broadcast nationally on FOX, the game pulled in 10.507 million viewers. Additionally, Michigan’s Sept. 2 game against Florida (7.65M viewers; ABC) and Oct. 21 game at Penn State (6.96M viewers; ABC) also cracked the top 15, though their rankings are unclear.
