Ohio State football: Larry Johnson quashes recruiting trail rumors of retirement

Tim May The Columbus Dispatch @TIM_MAYsports Larry Johnson is one of the more courteous and mild-mannered coaches in college football, but obviously the Ohio State defensive line coach has had enough of a recurring rumor about his possible retirement the past month or so. “Apparently there is misinformation about my future,” Johnson wrote on his Twitter account, @R2X_Rushmen1 on Friday. “I want to make a bold statement that I am not going anywhere and I’m proud to be a Buckeye. #Buckeyes #RushmenForLife” Johnson was hired by OSU coach Urban Meyer in 2014 after Johnson’s 18-season stint at Penn State. His coaching career spans more than 40 years. The rumor likely was a product of the recruiting trail where OSU currently has the No. 1-ranked 2018 class in the country, based on prospects who have issued commitments.
