Urban Meyer visits Jayson Oweh; new defensive end name emerges: Ohio State football recruiting

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State went from somewhat dire straits to feeling pretty good again about its defensive end recruiting in the 2018 class in a matter of days. The Buckeyes lost five-star pass rusher Brenton Cox two weeks ago, and were left without a defensive end commitment in a year where they really need a couple. Ohio State was also playing catch-up for players like Tyreke Smith and Jayson Oweh — its top two targets at the position. That’s shifted now, with the Buckeyes overtaking Penn State as the perceived favorite for Smith. He’ll announced on Jan. 4 at the Under Armour All-American Game, and Ohio State is in a good spot. That would fill a huge need, but the Buckeyes aren’t done at the position. So Urban Meyer, Larry Johnson and Greg Schiano were on the road over the weekend to visit with Oweh, a four-star prospect from New Jersey.…
