Taver Johnson returning to Ohio State football staff, replacing Kerry Coombs

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football on Tuesday officially announced the addition of Taver Johnson to the Buckeyes’ coaching staff. Johnson is OSU’s 10th assistant coach, and will coach cornerbacks. He replaces former cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs, who left last month to join the Tennessee Titans coaching staff. For Johnson, 45, this is a return to Columbus. He coached Ohio State’s cornerbacks from 2007-11. The Cincinnati native spent last year as the defensive coordinator at Temple. Johnson’s previous coaching stops include Miami (Ohio), Arkansas and Purdue.
