Johnson staying put at Penn State

I've been traveling to the West Coast all day, where I'm happy to report that it's 75 degrees warmer than Chicago. Anyway, my apologies for posting this late, but Penn State defensive line coach Larry Johnson has decided to stay in State College after receiving a lucrative offer to join Illinois' staff.
This is huge news for Penn State. Not only is Johnson the team's top recruiter and one of the best on the East Coast, but he can coach a bit, too, and will be instrumental next year with the Lions' defensive front. Penn State has a bit of a void at defensive end with Aaron Maybin and Maurice Evans turning pro, and Johnson's tutelage will be key next fall.
As for Illinois, the school made a very strong offer and got turned down. If athletic director Ron Guenther is willing to pay that much for another assistant, the Illini should get a good coach to oversee their defensive line.
