Bob Knight to return to ESPN hoops telecasts

Bob Knight will return to ESPN’s college basketball telecasts this season in an expanded role. The former coach will be paired with Brent Musburger on weekly Thursday night games with various conferences, and he will work with Dan Shulman on non-conference games on other nights.

Koufos could start

The Utah Jazz has excused starting center Mehmet Okur to deal with a family emergency in Turkey and two potential replacements are unavailable. As a result, rookie Kosta Koufos of Ohio State could start for the Jazz on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

Oden back on the court

The Portland Trail Blazers’ Web site reports that Greg Oden returned to the floor yesterday and participated in the team’s walk-through in Orlando, where the Blazers play the Magic tonight. Oden worked with the second unit and “ran, jumped and (lightly) bumped,” according to the report.
