COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Maggie Lucas scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half and No. 8 Penn State saved its best for last in beating Ohio State 71-56 on Sunday, the Nittany Lions’ 14th consecutive Big Ten win to set a school record. The victory, in which they outscored the Buckeyes 43-19 after halftime, also gave them their fastest start since the 1993-94 season. Alex Bentley scored 16 points and Nikki Greene had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Penn State (17-2, 7-0 Big Ten), which has won 11 in a row since a 67-52 loss at Connecticut on Dec. 6. It’s the sixth-longest winning streak in program history. Amber Stokes has knee sprain, will miss 4 weeks (The Associated Press)

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Amber Stokes, the reigning Big Ten defensive player of the year and a senior starter for Ohio State, will be lost for the next four weeks with sprained left knee. Stokes, the team’s third-leading scorer at 9.7 points a game, was injured late in the first half of Sunday’s 79-73 loss to Illinois. She was helped off the court, crying in pain. She was evaluated by Ohio State doctors on Monday. Stokes, the daughter of former Ohio State men’s basketball player Ron Stokes, was also averaging 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Buckeyes (10-5, 0-2 Big Ten).

Washington State tops No. 20 Ohio St. women 62-55 (The Associated Press)

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Lia Galdeira scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half to help Washington State upset No. 20 Ohio State 62-55 on Saturday. Washington State (3-5) led 28-23 at halftime. Ohio State came back to lead 36-32, but the Cougars’ defense forced three straight turnovers. Taylor Edmondson’s 3-pointer put the Cougars ahead to stay at 40-37. Ohio State (6-3) had a good look at a potential tying 3-point shot with 33 seconds to play, but missed on two chances and were forced to foul. Galdeira hit all four of her free throws to clinch it. Washington State scored 16 points of 21 Ohio State turnovers. Ohio State went 1 for 17 from behind the 3-point line. Taylor Hill had 14 points for Ohio State, but missed all nine tries from behind the arc. Ashley Adams had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Amber Stokes scored 12 for the Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Tayler Hill scored 19 points and No. 20 Ohio State never trailed in defeating Lafayette 81-41 Sunday for its 28th consecutive victory at home. Hill, who has scored in double figures in 42 straight games, hit a 3-pointer 20 seconds into the contest and the Buckeyes (6-2) never looked back. They led 38-16 at halftime and by as many as 47 points, 78-31, with 4:11 left in the game. Ohio State dominated both inside and out, outscoring the Leopards (3-7) 40-10 in the paint while making 9 of 17 shots from 3-point range (52.9 percent). Hill was 4-for-7 behind the arc. Overall, the Buckeyes shot 56.4 percent (31 of 55) to 26.9 percent (14 of 52) for the Leopards, who have lost 11 consecutive road games. Amber Stokes added 15 points and Ashley Adams had 10 for Ohio State. Danielle Flacco scored 10 to lead Lafayette.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Tayler Hill scored 20 points to lead No. 15 Ohio State to its 27th consecutive home victory, 78-33 over Evansville in a nonconference game Saturday. Ashley Adams added 14 points and all 13 players scored for the Buckeyes (5-2), who led 40-23 at halftime and began the second half with a 25-0 run to take complete command. Ohio State, coming off a 57-54 loss to No. 22 North Carolina, shot 63 percent (17 of 27) in the first half and 63.6 percent (14 of 22) in the second. The Purple Aces (2-5) struggled to a 23.1 percent overall mark (12 of 52), including just 15.6 percent (5 of 32) in the second half while facing a ranked opponent for the first time this season. Amber Stokes and Ameryst Alston added eight points each and Alston also had eight rebounds for the Buckeyes. Samantha Heck led Evansville with nine points.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Xylina McDaniel, Waltiea Rolle and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt scored 11 points apiece to lead No. 22 North Carolina to a 57-54 victory against No. 15 Ohio State on Wednesday. Tayler Hill scored 24 points for the Buckeyes (4-2). Hill’s jumper pushed Ohio State ahead 54-51 with 1:26 left, but McDaniel made a jumper and Ruffin-Pratt made two to hand the Tar Heels the victory. North Carolina (7-0) led 29-25 at the break. The Tar Heels opened the second half on an 8-0 run and pushed their advantage to 44-28 on Krista Gross’ jumper with 11:36 remaining. Hill scored 10 points to pull the Buckeyes to 46-38 with 7:58 left and tied the game at 50 on Darryce Moore’s jumper with 2:56 remaining. Ohio State jumped ahead 25-22 on Hill’s jumper with 4:06 left in the first half, but North Carolina ran off seven in a row to lead at the break.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Tayler Hill scored 17 points and No. 16 Ohio State breezed to its fourth consecutive win, and 25th straight at home, 82-52 over Wright State on Sunday. The Buckeyes (4-1) scored the first nine points and led 22-4 with 11:55 remaining in the first half after a 3-pointer by Hill. Amber Stokes scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half as Ohio State took a 42-25 halftime lead. The Raiders (2-2) trailed 51-33 with 15:38 left in the game before Ohio State began a 9-0 run that included two steals by Stokes. Ohio State shot 48.5 percent (33 of 68) for the game to Wright State’s 31.0 percent (18 of 58) and forced 22 turnovers by the Raiders. Hill had five steals and eight rebounds for the Buckeyes. Kim Demmings scored 17 points to pace Wright State.
