CHICAGO—Even when Urban Meyer was at his most forceful in his first Big Ten media days appearance on Thursday morning, he wasn’t saying much. “I have a problem with that,” Meyer said, when asked about opposing coaches recruiting Penn State players. “I have a problem with that,” he repeated. But when pressed about what he would do about the situation, Meyer merely expressed unfamiliarity with the rules. He also expressed discomfort with the situation, but instead of condemning anything any other coaches had done, it was back to unfamiliarity. “To actively go get a player on another team, I’m not really sure of the rules on that,” Meyer said. “And we’re not going to get very familiar with it.” That was Urban Meyer in a nutshell on Thursday morning: quiet and looking for easy answers instead. Meyer had plenty of those boilerplate statements during his time: he likes his players, the energy level’s high in Columbus, and Ohio State’s going to try to win every game it plays….
