College football roundup: Three Pitt players face assault charges

Three Pittsburgh players are facing assault and conspiracy charges stemming from an alleged incident last month. Running back Ray Graham , wide receiver Devin Street and defensive back Lafayette Pitts were charged Thursday night but not arrested, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The players will face a preliminary hearing on Jan. 9. No player suspensions appear imminent as the Panthers prepare to face Notre Dame on Saturday. The university released a statement Friday saying he were aware of the charges. “Those individuals have denied any involvement with the situation and have offered to speak with authorities, although to date they have not been questioned or received any court documents,” the statement read. “We take matters of player discipline very seriously and will continue to cooperate with any investigation. “However, we will not, and hope others will not, rush to judgment on these misdemeanor allegations.
