Gholston First Ohio College Player Selected In NFL Draft

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston was the only Ohio college player selected in the first two rounds of Saturday’s NFL draft, going No. 6 overall to the New York Jets.
The 6-foot-4, 264-pound Gholston is expected to play outside linebacker in the Jets’ 3-4 defense. He’s the eighth Ohio State player selected in the first round in the past three years.
Other Ohio college players who hoped to be selected in Sunday’s later rounds include Kirk Barton (OT, Ohio State), Larry Grant (OLB, Ohio State), Dionte Johnson (FB, Ohio State), Digger Bujnoch (OT, Cincinnati), Angelo Craig (DE, Cincinnati), Haruki Nakamura (FS, Cincinnati), Jabari Arthur (WR, Akron), Reggie Corner (CB, Akron), Davanzo Tate (CB, Akron), Kory Lichtensteiger (OG, Bowling Green), Jack Williams (CB, Kent State), Kalvin McRae (RB, Ohio), John Greco (OT, Toledo), John Greco (OT, Toledo) and Jalen Parmele (RB, Toledo).
