COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Technology has touched every phase of American life. It’s certainly changed how Ohio State’s coaches and players get prepared for a game. Each Buckeye has an iPad that allows him to watch clips personally tailored for them to preview an upcoming opponent. The coaches are able to draw up specific plays and emphasize techniques and talking points sent to their position groups.
The iPads were provided free to all Ohio State student-athletes this fall. The university’s idea was to enhance tutoring and mentoring services, but the tablets are a valuable communication tool for the 14th-ranked Buckeyes. It’s a far cry from the days when Woody Hayes spent hours in a crowded office reversing a clattering projector while ghostly images of football players in black and white flickered on the wall.
