It hasn’t been a great year for kickers overall in the Big Ten, but three guys have stood out with their legs and have been named to Lou Groza Award semifinalists.
The award for the nation’s top place-kicker selected its 20 semifinalists on Monday. Here are the Big Ten honorees and their credentials:
Northwestern’s Jeff Budzien: Budzien is 11-for-12 on field goals this season and his only miss was a 53-yard attempt late in the Nebraska loss. He does not have enough attempts to rank among the FBS leaders in field goal percentage but would be among the top kickers in the country in that stat if eligible.
