Unprecedented 5th Straight Win Over Michigan
November 22, 2008 by feed
COLUMBUS, Ohio — In a game not expected to be close, it was not. But Ohio State vs. Michigan retained all the intensity befitting the greatest rivalry in the sport, as the Buckeyes made school history.
The Bucks jumped to a two touchdown lead in the first half in a 42-7 rout over the Wolverines at Ohio Stadium. It’s an unprecedented 5th straight win for OSU over Michigan. It also ends Michigan’s season with a school-record worst 3-9 record.
Seventh-ranked Penn State earned a share of the Big 10 title and a trip to the Rose Bowl by demolishing 17th-ranked Michigan State 49-18. The pressure was on the Nittany Lions after No. 10 Ohio State claimed a share of its fourth straight conference championship with a 42-7 thrashing of archrival Michigan earlier in the day.

Beanie Wells recorded his 3rd long touchdown run in as many games against UM. His score set OSU ahead 7-0. The lead grew to 14-0 on a Terrelle Pryor 47 yard touchdown toss to Brian Hartline.
But the Wolverines managed a 14-play scoring drive later in the quarter, capped by a 1 yard td run by Brandon Minor to set a 14-7 Buckeye halftime lead.
The Bucks added to the lead in the 3rd, when the bucks combined two long running plays for a 2-play touchdown drive. Boom Herron’s 49 yard run for a touchdown extended OSU’s lead to 21-7.
The Bucks continued to attack, as punt returner Ray Small (just back from a coach’s suspension) took a Michigan punt 81 yards to the UM 8. Pryor then threw a touchdown pass to Brian Robiskie on the next play to make the score 28-7.
The Bucks started the 4th quarter with a short touchdown run by Herron. Then after Michigan fumbled the kickoff return, OSU inserted senior captain Todd Boeckman into the game. He promptly threw a touchown pass to Hartline to set the final score at 42-7.
