Urban Meyer Under Attack!

Matt Hayes of the Sporting News is trying to discredit Urban Meyer’s character. He has picked apart his past at Florida. He is also coming out and saying that Urban Meyer has already committed NCAA violations at Ohio State. In the words of Gomer Pile “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise”.

Matt Hayes is apparently the new chip of the ole’ block regarding the gotcha game. You know, that game that journalists like to play with their articles. They write articles that quote “Multiple Sources”. Multiple sources is like saying to me, you know those people who like to talk but don’t put their name behind it. In his article you will hear terms like former players (with no name), multiple sources, etc…

To paraphrase his laughable third paragraph, he basically says that “multiple sources told the sporting news” that Meyer actually would have the audacity to tell Stefon Diggs that he shouldn’t go to the Florida Gators because they have character issues. According to the multiple sources family, Urban apparently wouldn’t let his son go play for Florida due to these character issues. (Hey Matt, I guess you don’t pull in Top 5 recruiting classes every year). Your character probably wouldn’t last five minutes in the NCAA recruiting world, because you don’t have the ability to use negative recruiting against other teams. Maybe you should stick to article writing quoting your “multiple sources”.

But wait diligent article readers. There is more to this exciting story. You won’t believe this. Matt Hayes has more. He is going to basically use Urban Meyer’s own words against him. I guess this is a journalists view of winning. Urban Meyer was quoted as saying that the Florida program is “broken”. Yeah that is correct, Urban in November of 2010 used the words broken to describe his team at the time.

You ready for the next laughable statement. “But multiple former players and others close to the program”. Really? Basically what Matt is trying to say here is: Those who used to be around Urban Meyer in 2010 are saying in confessional ,that Urban really left Florida because he knew his roster sucked. Hence, confirming or adding some concrete evidence that Urban Meyer is a liar, and really only left Florida because he knew that roster sucked. Oh I almost forgot to add, Urban Meyer completely lost control of his drunken, drug using, 18-22 year old grown adult college football players. Apparently, Urban is not a professional babysitter/mind controller. And also it is unheard of that drug use, night club attendance, and drunken rowdy “football players” do this sort of thing around colleges across the country.

Urban Meyer apparently shouldn’t have a job. That is what Matt wants you the reader to believe. Here is what he says “Left in the wake of Meyer’s resignation were problems that can destroy a coaching career: drug use among players, a philosophy of preferential treatment for certain players, a sense of entitlement among all players and roster management by scholarship manipulation.” By reading this, I don’t think any coach in the NCAA would have a job. For example, at TCU, which is also known as Texas Christian University, 23 people are currently awaiting trial for drug use/selling. Among these 23, four football players were charged.

Tanner Wilson Brock, 21, of Fort Worth, a former member of the football team, who was charged with three counts of delivering more than a quarter-ounce of marijuana and with one count of possessing two ounces or less of marijuana.
— Tyler Andrew Horn, 21, of Fort Worth, former member of the football team, who was charged with delivering more than a quarter-ounce of marijuana as well as another count of delivering less than a quarter-ounce.
— David Yendry, 20, of Fort Worth, a former member of the football team, who was charged with three counts of delivering more than a quarter-ounce of marijuana in a drug-free zone. He was also charged with delivery of more than a quarter-ounce (not in a drug-free zone) and two counts of delivering less than a quarter-ounce.

Gary Patterson, the head coach of the TCU football program is heading into his 12th season. In no way, has his players being charged with drug trafficking, destroyed his coaching career. TCU was also invited to join the Big 12 Conference this past year. If a Christian University cannot prevent drug trafficking or use among it’s students, how can we expect one man, Urban Meyer, to do such a thing? Please answer me this Matt?

I cannot possibly summarize this entire article. It took Matt Hayes and his staff three months to drum up this article of accusations. Their interviews do have former players, active coaches, etc.. What he is wanting us all to believe is that Urban Meyer is a fraud. He is a terrible person. He shouldn’t have a job. He treats players who use drugs with preferential treatment. On and On and On. I get so tired as the reader having to see people drum up articles to attack people’s character. The last person I knew that was perfect is no longer on this earth. They also killed him. Take your negativity and all you bring with it and shove it to someone else. Buckeye fans have been through enough attack from the media.

I also find it interesting that you refuse to have three month investigations against any SEC team. All you would have needed to do is drum up a one week investigation and see that Arkansas’ coach just cheated on his wife and four kids. Their alum is also having a public outcry wanting to keep this guy as their football coach. Thanks for your three month investigation of Ohio State’s new coach. I wouldn’t expect anything less from media organizations. You guys have full time jobs just doing nothing but watching what our players/coaches are doing. Maybe you have valid points. Urban Meyer has admitted that he hasn’t been perfect. But he is a winner. He has won in the past. He will win in the future. We root for our teams to win. We don’t look for perfect coaches, players, or people. We are all imperfect.
