Thompson coming to OSU with a purpose

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s defensive line should need no introduction over the next few seasons. From Noah Spence to Adolphus Washington to Michael Bennett to Joel Hale to Steve Miller to J.T. Moore, the names stick out and are full of potential. Throw in Chris Carter and Tommy Schutt with newcomers Joey Bosa, Tyquan Lewis, Michael Hill, Donovan Munger, Billy Price and Tracy Sprinkle and the future looks bright. So why would defensive end Dylan Thompson (Lombard, Ill/Montini Catholic) throw his name in the mix and join the 2014 pledges as future Buckeyes?

Can Ohio State pledges nab more recruits?

Marcus Baugh, Joey Bosa, Johnny Townsend and Jalin Marshall have a tough act to follow this weekend. The Ohio State commits have to try and at least equal what Ezekiel Elliott, Tracy Sprinkle, Tim Gardner, Cam Burrows, Billy Price, Evan Lisle, Darron Lee and Jayme Thompson did the first week of December. The eight Buckeyes pledges were on hand for official visits a month ago along with Mike Mitchell, Donovan Munger, Gareon Conley and Tommy Sanders.

DT Donovan Munger fills hole, literally

With the addition of defensive tackle Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), the two-time national champion coach might be able to do just that. Munger, a four-star ESPN 300 prospect, became the sixth defensive lineman to give his pledge to the Buckeyes on Sunday, joining Billy Price (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch), Tracy Sprinkle (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria), Michael Hill (Pendleton, S.

Shaker Heights coach Jarvis Gibson confirmed the commitment. Munger joins Billy Price (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch), Tracy Sprinkle (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria), Joey Bosa (Ft.

Recruiting Rundown: May 17th

Finally a week has passed where not too many negative recruiting stories on Buckeye targets/former commits have surfaced. In previous weeks, we have seen Heuerman commit to Notre Dame, Neal de-commit, and Anzalone de-commit. While there hasn’t been any awful news since the last update, there has been a big change at the top of the board, as there’s a new number 1 and a new number 2 this week. Keep reading to find out who I believe to be the top 11 “hottest” targets on the Buckeye’s 2013 recruiting board, and check back May 24th for the next update. 11. DT Donovan Munger (previous: NR): Many people, including myself believe the Buckeyes lead for Munger’s services. Most schools, including Ohio State are looking at Donovan as a defensive linemen, however if that doesn’t work out, or the Buckeyes are in need help on the offense line, Donovan will be able…
