Recruiting Notes: Quick Devon Allen Update
While players like Robert Foster and James Quick seem to be getting the most attention of fans, another name to keep an eye on his Brophy Prep (AZ) wide receiver and track star, Devon Allen. Devon is an Ohio State legacy, as his dad played baseball at Ohio State, and he will likely be on campus for a visit this summer. I will be keeping in touch with Devon as his recruitment progresses, so check back for more updates. Recently offered by Illinois. Planning on taking a trip through the mid-west in July, schools that will be receiving visits: Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Michigan. No leaders, “I haven’t had the chance to go anywhere yet really.” Focusing on track until July where he’ll compete at nationals, this past weekend at the Arizona. HS championships, Devon finished first in the 100 and 300 M hurdles and 2nd in the 100 and 200 yard dashes’. Devon, like Buckeye commit Ezekiel Elliott plans on running track in college. Ezekiel is recruiting him to Ohio State.

Derek’s Mock Class of 2013 Buckeyes
I will go off the premesis that we will have 20 commits. Right now there is only room for 15, but with attrition usually averaging around 4 throughout a football season after spring ball, and with a possible early departure from Jonathan Hankins, I am projecting 20. I think we take two quarterbacks. J.T. Barrett (OSU-Baylor battle) Mitch Trubisky (Think he’s ours if we want him) Still in the mix: Aaron Bailey I think we take two running backs. Ezekiel Elliott (committed) Derrick Green (think he’s ours to lose Still in the mix: David Williams I think we take three wide receivers. Jalin Marshall (committed) Shelton Gibson (June) James Quick (visiting for spring game)
Committed: Ezekiel Elliott
Ezekiel was one of the people that I predicted to be in this class a couple of weeks ago. I got a bit nervous that he might go to Notre Dame after his visit, but in the end, he ended up a Buckeye. Ezekiel is one of my favorite commits so far and is vastly underrated. He is the PERFECT fit for Coach Meyer’s new offense. We already have a ton of power backs, so I feel it was really important to get a scat back like Ezekiel.Ezekiel told me the staff said they’re only one running back, which would of course be Ezekiel. However, it’s my belief that the staff would except a commitment from either Derrick Green or Ty Isaac. Nobody else. All this being said, I hope you enjoy the interview with one of the newest Buckeyes, Ezekiel Elliott!
