Ohio State is a huge, huge favorite to win the Big Ten’s Leaders Division (Dr. Saturday)

Ohio State is favored to win the Big Ten Leaders Division, of course. The Buckeyes are coming off a 12-0 season, have a lot of players back and possible contender Penn State is still under NCAA sanctions.

Buckeyes’ Meyer says spring game serious business

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer says his players better take the spring game seriously on Saturday because their starting spots could depend on it. Last season the Buckeyes were 12-0 but couldn’t play for the Big Ten championship because of NCAA violations. Now eligible, and with almost everyone back on offense, they’ll go into the fall favored to unseat three-time defending Big Ten champion Wisconsin in the Leaders Division. Meyer says the spring game counts for more at Ohio State than it does at some other schools. Gary Andersen is in his first spring at Wisconsin and Darrell Hazell debuts at Purdue. The Badgers, Boilermakers and Penn State have quarterback competitions this spring. Indiana has put an emphasis on defense, and Illinois has 40 new players on its roster.

Ohio State gets its rings for a 12-0 season (Dr. Saturday)

Nobody has celebrated a division championship in college football quite like this.

Ohio State won the Leaders Division in the Big Ten last year with a 12-0 record, but as we all know, they couldn’t play for the conference title or a bowl game because of NCAA sanctions.

Ohio St.-Penn St. Preview

The Big Ten’s two best teams might not meet in December’s conference championship game. Instead, they could be playing this weekend. While neither No. 9 Ohio State nor Penn State is eligible to represent the conference in Indianapolis, Saturday’s game in Happy Valley may determine which team winds up on top of the Leaders Division. NCAA sanctions have left the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions unable to play for the Big Ten title, but the conference said last month it would acknowledge either school as the division champ despite that ban – and Saturday’s winner will have the inside track to do just that. Wisconsin, with one conference loss, is the only other Leaders Division team with a realistic chance of finishing ahead of Ohio State or Penn State. The Buckeyes are 8-0 for the first time since 2007 and 4-0 in the conference, while Penn State (5-2, 3-0) is riding a five-game winning streak …
