ESPN Watch List DE will wait for perfect fit

Don’t expect a jump into the commitment pool from Joe Henderson (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) any time soon. The ESPN Watch List defensive end has been a student of the recruiting game and watched how former teammate Donovan Munger went through the paces before committing to Ohio State in December. With more than 10 offers now and more soon to come, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Henderson will wait things out before finding that perfect fit.

Another wild recruiting week for OSU

The dead period in recruiting might be here, but Ohio State wasted little time last week in getting in some last-minute offers, while taking visits as well. No one committed — at least not to the Buckeyes — but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a ton of things going on from a team perspective. Here’s a recap of what has become a common theme, a very busy recruiting week: Monday began with eight Ohio State commits reflecting back on their official visits and their role in landing Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) and Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) as the latest commits in the Class of 2013.

OSU’s 2014 class emphasizes on line

When Ohio State coach Urban Meyer nabbed commit No. 19 in the class of 2013 and it involved defensive tackle Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), hardly a ripple of shock went through Ohio State fans. Meyer’s love for big men to plug up the line isn’t anything new as the Buckeyes push forward following a 12-0 season. In fact, the two-time national champion has made it a regular habit to rotate defensive linemen in and out in an effort to wear down the offensive line.

OSU wraps up great recruiting week

After going over two months without a commitment, Ohio State landed some two big names in big ways last week to highlight a very busy seven days of recruiting as the Buckeyes look to close out the 2013 class strong. When Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) and Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) gave their pledge to Ohio State Friday and Sunday, respectively, it marked a huge day for the Buckeyes, who now have eight ESPN 150 athletes in their recruiting class.

Weekend Rewind: Ohio State

Ohio State has to be feeling pretty good about itself these days. With eight commits already on official visits over the weekend, the Buckeyes added two more names to their 2013 recruiting class when four-star ESPN 150 cornerback Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) and four-star ESPN 300 defensive tackle Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) gave their pledge to the team. In doing so, the two became the 18th and 19th commits, respectively, in the 2013 Ohio State recruiting class.

Scouts: Buckeyes add Munger to DL

On the heels of landing ESPN 150 cornerback Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington), Ohio State picked up another verbal from an in-state defensive prospect as ESPN 300 defensive tackle Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) committed Sunday. When Conley announced his decision, we mentioned that the Buckeyes’ 2013 class is continuing to be defined by its strength among the ‘skilled’ positions, but there is still a noticeable push to strengthen the defensive trenches in Columbus, especially inside.

DT Donovan Munger fills hole, literally

Urban Meyer likes his football team with enough defensive linemen to go from one sideline to the next. With the addition of defensive tackle Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), the two-time national champion coach might be able to do just that. Munger, a four-star ESPN 300 prospect, became the sixth defensive lineman to give his pledge to the Buckeyes on Sunday, joining Billy Price (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch), Tracy Sprinkle (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria), Michael Hill (Pendleton, S.

Donovan Munger commits to Ohio State

Ohio State stayed on defense Sunday when it picked up its 19th commit in the class of 2013. This one came on the defensive line as ESPN 300 defensive tackle Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) gave his pledge to the Buckeyes after taking his official visit to Columbus over the weekend. Shaker Heights coach Jarvis Gibson confirmed the commitment. Munger joins Billy Price (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch), Tracy Sprinkle (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria), Joey Bosa (Ft.

It’s time for OSU to get Conley

The official visit of Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) is an interesting one, as the ESPN 150 cornerback will spend a whole bunch of time one-on-one with Urban Meyer and his coaching staff. While most of this weekend’s heavy hitters –Mike Mitchell (Plano, Texas, Prestonwood Christian) and Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) are expected in town — will make their official visits beginning on Friday, Conley will not.

David Dawson postpones OSU visit

The big four coming on official visits to Ohio State this weekend is now just three as David Dawson (Detroit/Cass Tech) had to change plans at the last moment. The top-ranked offensive guard in the Class of 2013 was scheduled to join Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington), Mike Mitchell (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian) and Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) as well as eight Ohio State commits for what looked like a big weekend.
