The NBA decisions have been made (Deshaun Thomas is gone, LaQuinton Ross is still around), the freshmen have been signed and the offseason is officially underway for the Ohio State basketball team. That…
Ohio State hires Kevin McGuff as women’s coach (The Associated Press)
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Kevin McGuff is the new women’s basketball coach at Ohio State, three weeks after signing a contract extension with the University of Washington. Ohio State announced the hiring Tuesday. The 43-year-old McGuff, who spent nine years as the head coach at Xavier before winning 41 games the last two seasons with the Huskies, follows Jim Foster, who was fired last month after the Buckeyes failed to win 20 games or make the NCAA tournament for the first time in his 11-year tenure. After seasons of 20-14 in 2011-12 and 21-12 last year, McGuff signed a contract extension with the Huskies through the 2019-20 season.
The Evolution of Post-Florida Urban Meyer
Urban Meyer was sitting on top of the college football world in August 2009. He had just won his second national championship and signed a lucrative six-year extension to stay in the Swamp for…
Ohio State Offers Scholarship to Backup QB Recruit
Sometimes the road to building a championship program is the road less traveled, and in Urban Meyer’s case, that means extending a scholarship offer to a backup quarterback. Perhaps Meyer has lost his…
Se’Von Pittman elects to transfer
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Notably missing from the rotation on the rebuilt defensive line during the first practice of spring camp, Se’Von Pittman won’t be returning for any more workouts with Ohio State. The program confirmed late on Tuesday evening that the redshirt freshman has elected to transfer and was granted his release, ending his brief career with the Buckeyes. Pittman was part of a heralded group of four defensive linemen signed in Meyer’s first class with Ohio State, but the 2012 ESPN 150 pick and No.
State of the Rivalry: Linebackers
The writers at WolverineNation and BuckeyeNation put their heads together to break down the rivals’ 2013 recruiting classes. They’ll give readers a position-by-position look at who coaches Brady Hoke and Urban Meyer signed and, ultimately, which class edged out the other. It’s too early to say what will happen through the next few seasons, and we won’t make any promises except that Hoke and Meyer are going to put talent on the field. Ohio State got: The Buckeyes looked like they were fine when Alex Anzalone (Wyomissing, Pa.
What Ohio State Must Pitch to 6’5" 4-Star WR Dallis Todd During Unofficial Visit
Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes have the chance to take a very early lead in the recruitment of one of the more interesting wide receivers in the 2014 class: Dallis Todd . Todd has elite potential as a wideout, if only because of his size. He’s 6’5”, 210 pounds and he’s ranked as the No. 30 wide receiver in the 2014 class (247Sports Composite). Like I said, though, he has the potential to be one of the better wideouts from this class. Ohio State just recently offered the big recruit a scholarship, and he’s already developed a strong recruiting relationship with a member of the staff, according to Marc Givler of BuckeyeGrove .com: California is a state where several Ohio State assistants all pitch in to recruit the area but Todd has developed a strong relationship already with one Buckeye assistant. “I talk with coach (Tim) Hinton,” Todd explained. “We…

Why Urban Meyer Should Worry Alabama Offered Ohio State Commit Marcelys Jones
Urban Meyer doesn’t have much to worry about on the recruiting trail. He’s one of the best of the best, and his name carries a ton of weight with recruits. That said, if there’s one coach in the country that is on Meyer’s level, it would be Nick Saban of the Alabama Crimson Tide—and he’s definitely a coach Saban needs to keep an eye on, especially if Alabama is coming after an Ohio State commitment. According to Bill Greene of Scout.com, 4-star offensive guard recruit and Ohio State commitment Marcelys Jones has picked up an offer from Saban and the Crimson Tide: The Cleveland Glenville offensive tackle has continued to add offers, and the 6-foot-4, 325-pound, lineman received a big one Wednesday. “This is a big offer for me and I was surprised to get it, to be honest,” Jones stated. “My principal came and got me …
