Perfect moments: No. 1
BuckeyeNation counts down the five biggest moments on the march to perfection for Ohio State, from the biggest games and plays to the locker room speeches and celebrations — finishing today with the last step in the journey. No. 1: Simply perfect Ohio State had other celebrations — there was a memorable dance party in the corner of Spartan Stadium in September, and the atmosphere was pretty raucous at home after dismantling Nebraska. The Buckeyes had a couple of wins that would have delivered more style points.

Braxton Miller Comes Up Big As Ohio State Tops Michigan State 17-16
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Ohio State rode the arms and legs of sophomore quarterback Braxton Miller to make Urban Meyer’s Big Ten coaching debut a winning one. Miller accounted for 315 total yards as the undefeated Buckeyes upset No. 18 Michigan State 17-16 in the conference opener for both schools Saturday at Spartan Stadium. Miller gained 136 yards on 23 carries and passed for 179 yards while completing 16 of 23 attempts. He connected with Devin Smith on a 63-yard touchdown during the second half but also committed three turnovers, including two fumbles. Ohio State, which is ineligible for postseason play, is 5-0 under their heralded new coach. Andrew Maxwell threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Keith Mumphrey for Michigan State (3-2). Spartans tailback Le’Veon Bell, who entered the game ranked third nationally with a 152.5 rushing average, was held to 45 yards on 17 carries. He added a career-high eight receptions for 58 yards. Young Buckeyes about to make first road trip
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The first road trip of the year is always a concern. When you’re playing 15 freshmen, the first away game is enough to give a coach an ulcer. Yet Ohio State coach Urban Meyer professes to not be worried how his first-year players will handle their first sojourn behind enemy lines when the 14th-ranked Buckeyes travel to take on No. 20 Michigan State on Saturday. With 12 freshmen listed on the two-deep, no wonder Meyer says he’s got the youngest team in America. Youth means inexperience, so the coaching staff and the Buckeyes’ veterans will need to reassure their younger players before and during the critical showdown between the Big Ten’s highest ranked teams at hostile Spartan Stadium.

Top 2 teams in Big Ten still have lot to prove
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — From the outside, it looks like a premier game on the opening week of Big Ten play: The conference’s two highest ranked teams, with a combined 7-1 record. A closer look, though, and both No. 14 Ohio State (4-0) and 20th-ranked Michigan State (3-1) enter Saturday night’s game at Spartan Stadium with almost as many questions as answers. The Buckeyes are unbeaten but coach Urban Meyer is unhappy with almost every facet of their game. His counterpart with the Spartans, Mark Dantonio, acknowledges his team’s problems with consistency and effort, especially on offense. Both say their teams need to get a lot better by Saturday, in time for what will be a watershed game for each squad’s hopes of winning a Big Ten division title.
