2009 Michigan State Spartans’ Green and White Game Roster

The Player Draft was held Wednesday (Earth Day)…It showed a little about what the players think about each of the positions as the Seniors divided up the roster.

SpartyMSU Thoughts on the Spring Game Player Draft:
1) QBs were picked very late: both must be good and comparable.
2) Injuries / Inactive: what does this mean for the season?  Clark-Davis? Cironi? Need to look into this…

Michigan State wasn't the only team to hold a spring game draft Wednesday. Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, who passed on the idea to Spartans head man Mark Dantonio, oversaw the Buckeyes' selections for the spring game on Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
Some notables for each squad.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — It was probably a good thing that neither Kirk Cousins nor Keith Nichol attended Wednesday's spring game draft at the Skandalaris Football Center.
The two Spartans quarterbacks would have felt a bit like Brady Quinn and Aaron Rodgers. They would have been waiting a while.
Michigan State's senior class divided into two…

EAST LANSING, Mich. — There are several predictable words to describe the way a 235-pound man runs the football.
Smooth is usually not one of them.
"I tease him sometimes, because he's one of my closest friends," Michigan State wide receiver Mark Dell said. "He's real smooth, kind of effortless. I love to see him run. He's a…

QBs under the microscope at Spartans practice

EAST LANSING, Mich. — It's pretty miserable outside right now, so thankfully Michigan State held practice Tuesday afternoon on its indoor field. Media were allowed to stay for nearly 13 practice periods, the most all spring, so I clearly picked a good day to visit Sparta.
The quarterback competition is clearly the burning issue in these parts, so…

I'm off to East Lansing to spend some time with head coach Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans. I'll be attending Tuesday's practice in East Lansing and Wednesday's spring game draft.
Posting will be light until the Spartans wrap up practice early this evening. I'll try to post an update on Penn State linebacker Navorro…

Ohio State upsets Top Seeded Michigan State in Big Ten Tournament

Ohio State moved on to the Big Ten Tournament final today against Purdue by beating the #1 seeded Michigan State in Indianapolis 82-70. The Buckeyes got help from every person on the team with great performances by Evan Turner, Jon Diebler, William Buford, and BJ Mullens. After the game Evan Turner discussed how they made adjustments after losing two regular season games to the Spartans and how he came back from not scoring in the first half to scoring 18 points in the second.

If you have some time today, check out Joe Rexrode's excellent story in the Lansing State Journal about former Michigan State player John Shinsky, who's on a mission to build an orphanage in the poverty-stricken city of Matamoros, Mexico.
Shinsky, who spent much of his own childhood in an orphanage, will embark on a 2,000-mile bike ride to raise…

Pryor has license to lead at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio — When Terrelle Pryor showed snippets of his boundless potential last season, he usually did so with his feet.
Whether it was sprinting for the game-winning touchdown at Wisconsin, wrong-footing the Michigan State Spartans in a blowout or consistently beating Texas defenders to the edge in the Fiesta Bowl, Pryor displayed the type of…
